Fisherman, marine police officer, APM personnel save woman who jumped off Penang Second Bridge (NSTTV)

GEORGE TOWN: Prompt action by an auxiliary policeman, a fisherman and Civil Defence Force (APM) personnel saved the life of a woman who had jumped off the Sultan Abdul Halim Muadzam Shah Penang Second Bridge here today.

The 28-year-old woman was said to have taken the leap after parking her Toyota Avanza on the bridge at Km 9.9.

A fisherman, who witnessed the 11.13am incident from his boat, rushed to her rescue. A policeman also sped to the scene after receiving a distress call.

They saved the woman from drowning with the help of APM personnel.

The woman was taken to the Batu Musang jetty and admitted to hospital for treatment.

A one-minute-and-three-second video of the rescue effort has gone viral on social media.
