Rosmah: All politicians must play by the book and not spread fake news

KUALA LUMPUR: Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor has urged all politicians not to play dirty politics and spread fake news that could confuse the people.

Rosmah said everyone should act maturely in politics and avoid spreading hatred among the people.

She said she is also a victim of slander due to the untruthful stories spread by some irresponsible people.

“In politics, we should act maturely and don’t play dirty politics. Due to this, I became the victim of slander,” said Rosmah who is wife of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak.

“Those fake news and slanderous remarks especially against me and my husband are all not true. The fake news are meant to make the people hate me and my husband,” said Rosmah.

She added everybody should respect each other especially the elderly and avoid fighting among each other and act maturely, she said at the Salam Sayang Perdana programme organised by Barisan Nasional’s women wing at Lembah Pantai community hall here today.

She said the younger generation should respect the elderly especially when it comes to politics.

She also said parents should teach the younger generations to respect the elders as that is basic manners since young.

“We should teach the young people on how to respect the elderly and not to gossip about other people.

“Hence, I also want to let everyone know that I am not like what other people say about me,” she added.

Some 500 members and veterans of BN’s women’s wing from Lembah Pantai attended the programme.

Also present at the event were Wanita Umno chief Tan Sri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil, Lembah Pantai Umno division chief Datuk Seri Raja Nong Chik Raja Zainal Abidin and wife as well as BN women assistant secretary Datuk Dr Noraini Ahmad.

Rosmah said the programme serves as the right platform for all BN machineries to explain face to face to the voters on the mission of the party which prioritise the welfare of the people.

Shahrizat meanwhile said, the programme was to acknowledge the BN women’s wing veterans on their effortless support and strong commitment towards the party.

“We as the women should avoid spreading false news and get brainwashed by social media.

“We should be smart in making decisions before believing in such stories which could make the government look bad. Therefore, it is important for a programme like this to be held to ensure that the grassroots receive the correct information from the party leaders about the BN government.
