Robust economy spurred AirAsia to hit record numbers - Fernandes

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia’s robust economy has helped low-cost carrier AirAsia hit record numbers, its Group Chief Executive Officer, Tan Sri Tony Fernandes said.

He said tourism would be the future growth driver for Malaysia.

“Economy in Malaysia is robust. Helping @AirAsia hit record numbers. Ringgit holding value. Still feel it should be (RM)3.50 (versus the US Dollar).

“Tourism (is) the future growth driver for Malaysia,” he tweeted today.

Last month, Bank Negara Malaysia Governor Tan Sri Muhammad Ibrahim said underpinned by continued strong performance, the Malaysian economy has the potential to record more than 6.0 per cent growth this year.
