Two cars ram 12 motorcycles under flyover near PD; man hurt in pileup

SEREMBAN: A motorcyclist, taking shelter under a flyover near Port Dickson toll plaza during heavy rain, was injured when two cars slammed into several motorcycles parked there today.

In the 2pm incident at KM259 of the North-South Expressway, the man was said to have sustained only minor injuries.

A witness said the other motorcyclists were unhurt as they happened to be standing behind the railing under the flyover. He said at least 12 motorcycles were damaged in the crash.

"Both the car and sports utility vehicle skidded and crashed into the parked motorcycles.

"The motorcycle owners were fortunate to be standing quite far away from their machines," he said.

Seremban police chief Assistant Commissioner Thiew Hock Poh said investigations revealed that a 23-year-old woman had lost control of her car after hitting a puddle on the road.

"The car then hit a road divider and blocked one of the lanes. An SUV, which was trailing behind did not have time to avoid the car and slammed into it.

"The impact threw the vehicles into the emergency lane and straight into the parked motorcycles."

Thiew added that the injured motorcyclist has been taken to Tuanku Ja'afar Hospital (HTJ) for treatment.
