KOTA KINABALU: The RM950 special financial aid for students from institutions of higher learning (IPT) shows the government’s concern in its effort to produce educated and highly skilled Sabahans.
Chief Minister Tan Sri Musa Aman said the special grant also symbolises the responsibility and commitment of the state government in providing assistance as well as support to the people of Sabah by putting education as the main focus.
He said the government of today is a concerned government that prioritises the people, adding that this has been proven through exclusive initiatives.
“This assistance and support is provided to all segments of society, including students via high impact human capital development programmes,” he said in his speech, today.
Musa’s speech was delivered by Sabah Tourism, Cultural, and Environment Minister, Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun, who is also in charge of state education at Universiti Malaysia Sabah today.
A total of 5,263 students from 108 IPTs received the financial aid. The special grant recipients will receive the money via their respective bank accounts.
Musa said RM5 million was allocated to help reduce the burden of Sabah students, particularly those coming from lower-income groups.
“The state government is on the right track in propelling development. Realising the importance of giving focus to human capital development, the state government will allocate a huge budget for the Sabah Government Scholarship, which will benefit about 1,500 students each year,” he said.
