Fasting in Malaysia starts on Thursday [NSTTV]

KUALA LUMPUR: Muslims in the country will begin observing the month of Ramadan from Thursday.

The announcement was made tonight by the Keeper of the Rulers' Seal, Datuk Seri Syed Danial Syed Ahmad.

Syed Danial said the date for the beginning of the fast nationwide has been fixed for May 17, in accordance with a decree by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong after acquiring the consent of the Rulers.

The announcement was broadcast live over RTM.
