PM heads for Istana Negara; prepares for major press conference

PUTRAJAYA: Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad has left the Perdana Leadership Foundation for the Istana Negara to await the announcement of the Royal Pardon Board’s decision on PKR de facto leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

Later today, Pakatan Harapan leaders are expected to have lunch with Anwar at the Foundation.

This will be followed by a 2.30pm press conference by the Prime Minister, during which he is expected to announce the names of seven core Cabinet ministers.

He is also expected to announce the new Malaysian Anti-Corruption Agency commissioner; Attorney-General; and secretary-general for the Ministry of Finance; as well as the status of the investigation on 1Malaysia Development Berhad, following the declassification of the Official Secrets Act by the Auditor General yesterday. -- Reporting by Manirajan Ramasamy, Azura Abas, Mohd Husni Mohd Noor dan Irwan Shafrizan Ismail.
