KUALA LUMPUR: As the news spread that police have entered former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak's residence, more than 40 media personnel began to converge at Jalan Langgak Duta, Taman Duta last night.
More than 15 police cars and a police truck were seen entering the compound of Najib's home but the reason of their presence remains unknown.
Astro Awani reported that Bukit Aman's Commercial Crime Department director Datuk Seri Amar Singh Ishar Singh has confirmed that police were at the former premier's residence to "search" for items but did not elaborate.
"I can confirm police were at the former prime minister's residence to conduct a search," he was quoted as saying.
NSTP is attempting to seek more details on the operation, held shortly after Najib returned from performing the terawih prayers at the Kampung Baru mosque.
Police have so far cordoned off the road leading to the house with traffic cones and were on guard inspecting vehicles coming in and out of the area.
Sentul deputy police chief Mohamed Rafiq Mohamed Mustafa was also spotted at the scene.
