KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has been urged to conduct an immediate investigation into the Taman Rimba Kiara land transfer.
Segambut Member of Parliament Hannah Yeoh said former Federal Territories (FT) Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor has, until now, claimed to have no knowledge of the matter.
“As former FT Minister and Federal Territories Foundation chairman, it is impossible that he has no knowledge on the matter when the land was sold by the foundation to the developer.
“Therefore, I hope that MACC will conduct an immediate investigation on this land transfer,” she told reporters after attending the ‘HY Bag’ event organised by Helping Hands Penan.
Tengku Adnan was previously quoted as saying that the foundation was not involved in the land transfer and thus, had no knowledge of the matter.
Yeoh hoped that Tengku Adnan will be able to address the matter as well as to speak the truth.
“We want justice in this matter and want to see if this land transfer issue has its own agenda.”
Yeoh, said however, she was not sure of Kuala Lumpur City Hall’s involvement in the development.
She said the residents living nearby Taman Rimba Kiara in Taman Tun Dr Ismail are now waiting for the judicial review which is fixed for June 13.
In 2014, the foundation procured the issuance of a title to itself for 4.9ha out of the 10ha land.
The foundation then proceeded to enter into a joint venture with the developer on a project that entailed the construction of one block of 350 units of affordable housing for the Bukit Kiara longhouse community, and eight blocks of 50-storey high-end condominiums (worth RM3 billion).
It was reported that the longhouse residents had been promised affordable housing units to replace their cramped quarters since in 1982.
They have however refused to move and had rejected offers of PPR flats and public housing.
