KLANG: Raja Muda of Selangor Tengku Amir Shah today presented Hari Raya Aidilfitri contributions worth RM84,200 to underprivileged children at the Masjid Nurul Amin in Kampung Delek Klang.

Courtesy of Yayasan Islam Darul Ehsan (YIDE), RM100 each was handed out to 742 orphans from the Klang district to help them prepare for the Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration.

YIDE is an organisation wholly owned by the Selangor Islamic Religious Council (MAIS) which is responsible for the welfare of orphanages in Selangor.

Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah is the patron of YIDE which was established in 2011.

YIDE acting chief executive officer Nur Mohd Razali Abdullah said YIDE had allocated a total of RM849,200 this year to be handed out to 8,492 orphans throughout Selangor (registered with the organisation), and RM23,200 to be donated to two orphanages under its watch.

“Klang is the second district where YIDE presented contributions to children in need in conjunction with Hari Raya Aidilfitri this year.

“Tengku Amir Shah gave away aid to underprivileged children in Kuala Selangor last week, and donations will be given to children in Hulu Langat and Hulu Selangor in the coming weeks,” he said in a statement.

On behalf of YIDE, Tengku Amir Shah also received RM10,000 from Northport (Malaysia) Bhd which will be channelled to orphans in Klang.

YIDE, in extending its gratitude to Northport, hoped that the company would continue to assist these orphans in the years to come.

Apart from channeling contributions to orphans in Selangor, YIDE provides ad-hoc donations to disaster victims by distributing basic necessities such as daily necessities and cash aid.

YIDE also offers dialysis services to patients in Selangor. Six MAIS dialysis centres are located in Bukit Jelutong, Sungai Besar, Kuala Selangor, Taman Melawati, Kapar and Shah Alam.

Present at the event today were MAIS chairman Datuk Setia Mohammed Khusrin Munawi, Selangor Islamic Religious Department (JAIS) director Datuk Haris Kasim and Kapar Member of Parliament Datuk Abdullah Sani Hamid.

Others were state Culture, Tourism, Malay Customs and Heritage chairman Datuk Abdul Rashid Asari and Seri Setia assemblyman Dr Shaharuddin Badaruddin, who is also the state Islamic Affairs, Education, Human Capital Development, Science, Technology and Innovation committee chairman.
