Father of murdered girl Nur Alya wants to meet her ex-beau

KLANG: If given the chance, the father of murdered student Nur Alya Damia would like to confront the murder suspect to ask why he had killed her.

“All matters can be discussed amicably and need not end tragically like this,” said Mohd Hairi Jamil, 45, father of the 19-year-old student at Port Dickson Vocational College who was found dead on Thursday night.

Nur Alya Damia, who was affectionately known as Kak Long as being the eldest child in the family, was believed to have been murdered by her ex-boyfriend in Taman PD Permata, Port Dickson, on Thursday night.

Hairi, a technician and father of three, said he wanted to know the reason behind the action of the suspect, who was also a student at the college.

“I have never raised my hand or beat Kak Long. That is why I want to meet the suspect and ask why he did this. My heart will never be at peace until I hear it from his own mouth.

“I also do not want to believe the news or information on the Internet as the facts cannot be verified,” he said when met at his home in Apartment Amazing Heights in Sungai Udang here today.

Hairi said he would only meet the suspect if granted permission by the authorities as he has no intention of disrupting investigations.

He said he was told by his wife Hanaiati Yakub, 45, that Kak Long were friends with the suspect prior to the incident.

“My family and I are still in a state of shock over what has happened and we are in the midst of handling her death certificate and other related documents.”

Hairi said his heart breaks when he sees the baju kurung Kak Long had bought earlier this month.

“We had planned for all of us to wear dark green during Aidilfitri and I had bought the outfits early. I had also planned to give her a car as a gift so that it is convenient for her to travel when she starts her internship and graduates with a Diploma in Computer Network.

“However, all that is left now are memories and we can only accept this as God’s will,” said Hairi, who remembered Kak Long as one who loved having Roti John and his wife’s cooking for breaking of fast.

On Thursday, police arrested the suspect who had allegedly killed and dumped Nur Alya Damia’s body by the roadside.

The 19-year-old suspect was arrested at his house in Taman PD Idaman, Lukut, located about a kilometre from where the body was discovered.

Preliminary investigations showed that Nur Alya Damia had left her rented home in Taman PD Idaman when the suspect came to pick her up in a Proton Wira.

They headed to another part of the neighbourhood where a misunderstanding took place in the car.

Nur Alya Damia was believed to have been strangled to death by the suspect.

Realising that she was dead, he panicked and dumped her body by the roadside which was then found by passers-by.

She was buried at the Selat Klang Muslim cemetery here late last night.
