DPM, Anwar call on Indian PM Modi before he leaves for Singapore

SEPANG: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi left for Singapore this afternoon after calling on Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad in Putrajaya during a brief stopover in Malaysia.

The special aircraft, Flight AI 001, carrying Modi took off about 2pm from the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) here.

At the Bunga Raya Complex at KLIA, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail and her husband Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim called on Modi before the Indian prime minister left for Singapore.

After the meeting of about 30 minutes, Modi, Dr Wan Azizah and Anwar posed for a group photograph with several staff of the Indian High Commission in Malaysia.

Dr Wan Azizah and Anwar accompanied Modi during a static guard-of-honour comprising 26 soldiers of the First Battalion of the Royal Ranger Regiment led by Captain Abdul Munir Mohani @ Che Umar before Modi boarded the flight for Singapore. - Bernama
