Mohd Nasir is Media Prima board's new group chairman

KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Mohd Nasir Ahmad has been appointed as Group Chairman of Media Prima Berhad's board of directors, effective today.

In a statement, Media Prima said with Mohd Nasir's new position, he will resign as the company's Chairman of the Group’s Audit Committee, member of the Nomination and Remuneration Committee and board member of Synchrosound Studio Sdn Bhd.

He will however be appointed as a member of the Risk Management Committee and will remain as the Chairman of Sistem Televisyen Malaysia Berhad.

Mohd Nasir who joined the board on Feb 26, 2016 was previously the Senior Independent Non-Executive Director and was appointed as Interim Group Chairman on May 21 this year.

"The Board said it has conducted a thorough appointment process for the Group Chairman position and believes Datuk Mohd Nasir is the most suitable candidate to lead Media Prima forward as it embarks to become Malaysia’s leading digital-first commerce and content company," the statement read.

With a vast background in finance, accounting and management, Mohd Nasir is also a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) United Kingdom and a chartered accountant with the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA).

He holds a Master of Business Administration (Finance) from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia.

Meanwhile, Media Prima also announced the redesignation of Raja Datuk Zaharaton Raja Zainal Abidin as Senior Independent Non-Executive Director as well as the appointment of Mohd Rashid Mohd Yusof to the board as Independent Non-Executive Director.
