Man's hand crushed, four fingers severed by sugarcane machine

RANTAU PANJANG: A juice seller was rushed to the hospital today after his hand was caught inside a sugarcane juice extractor at a Ramadan bazaar here today.

Hussin Abdullah, 55, who was manning his stall near Masjid Beijing, lost four of his fingers in the 3.35pm incident.

Rantau Panjang Fire and Rescue Department chief Mohd Adni Ibrahim said his team responded to a call shortly after and arrived at the scene three minutes later.

"Upon arrival, the victim has been taken to a nearby clinic before being rushed to the Raja Perempuan Zainab 1 Hospital in Kota Baru.

"According to witnesses, the victim appeared weak and was about to faint when they took him to the clinic.

He lost a lot of blood."

Adni said his team managed to remove the victim's severed fingers from the machine and handed them over to his family.
