TAIPING: Faizulniza Puzi has no regrets of choosing to pursue her affection for cats over a stable career as an engineer.
The 35-year-old mother of four, who is fondly known as Niza, left her job in 2012 and opened up her own cat shop known as ‘Geli-Geli Kucing’ which sells a wide range of cat essentials, grooming necessities as well as providing ‘cat hotel’ facilities here in 2013.
According to her, the idea of running the shop came about after looking at the high demand for the cat care services in the district. Its second branch in Meru, Ipoh was opened in 2016.
“There are a lot of pet shops but none of them were focusing on cats, I seized the opportunity after seeing that there was a demand (for cat shops) especially among the Malays,” she told Bernama recently.
Asked on her cat shop name, Niza said it was inspired by those who are squeamish over cats.
Niza said that she also always reminded her 15 staff to always carry out their task in the best possible way as they had been entrusted to treat and take good care of their customers’ cats lovingly.
On the Geli-Geli Kucing cat hotel facilities, she said the prices ranged between RM12 and RM35 depending on the package.
“We also advise owners to bring their own cat food as the animals have a sensitive stomach,” she said adding that the cat hotel facilities at her shop would always be fully booked especially during the festive season which could reach up to 150 cats.
Niza said following the encouraging response, she also planned to open another branch in Manjung before the Aidiladha celebration this year and to franchise her business. - Bernama
