SHAH ALAM: Sungai Kandis assemblyman Mat Shuhaimi Shafiei died of lymphoma cancer at the Subang Jaya Medical Centre here at 11.10am today. He was 50.
Political Secretary to the Selangor Menteri Besar, Borhan Aman Shah, said preparations for his burial will be made at the Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Mosque here.
"His remains will be laid to rest at the Section 21 Muslim Burial Ground after the Asar prayer today,” he said in a statement.
Shuhaimi, who was the ex-Political Secretary to former Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali, won his seat in the May 9 election with a majority of 12,480 votes.
However, his deteriorating health prevented him from attending the swearing-in ceremony at the first meeting of the first term of the 14th State Legislative Assembly sitting on June 26.
