Education Ministry denies instructing schools to contribute towards Tabung Harapan

KUALA LUMPUR: The Education Ministry has denied instructing schools to contribute towards Tabung Harapan.

In a statement today, it said minister Dr Maszlee Malik had never given any written or verbal instruction to schools in Kelantan to contribute to Tabung Harapan as alleged in social media.

It said investigations showed some schools in the state had however started collecting money for the fund through the initiative of the state education department.

However, the planned launch of the fund collection was subsequently cancelled.

For the record, the Tabung Harapan Fund was launched in early June and the latest amount collected as of July 5, 2018 amounted to RM140,430,050.76.
