Pos Malaysia launches historical museums' stamps [NSTTV]

KUALA LUMPUR: Pos Malaysia Bhd (Pos Malaysia) today launched thirteen series of historical museum stamps in conjunction with the International Museum Day on July 23.

Pos Malaysia group chief executive officer, Al-Ishal Ishak said the series would feature the Perak Museum, Sarawak Museum and Kuala Lumpur National Museum.

“Pos Malaysia sees this as an opportunity to produce the stamp series that is not only interesting but also educational, especially to the younger generation,” he said.

The limited-edition historical museum stamps are priced at 60 sen each.

Meanwhile, the miniature sheet (MS) features the Melaka Museum priced at RM6.50 per piece to commemorate its 65th anniversary.

“This time we came out with unique sandy texture on the miniature sheet which resemble the texture of Admiral Cheng Ho’s statue,” said Pos Malaysia’s head of stamp and philately unit, Diyana Lean Abdullah.

Other philatelic products include the First Day Cover (FDC) with free brochure available at 50 sen, the folder priced at RM6 each and postcard with three different designs priced at RM1 each.

The complete folder set of this stamp series costs RM60.80.

“We printed 200,000 pieces for each stamp’s design, 28,000 pieces of FDCs, 25,000 pieces of MS, 5,000 pieces for each postcard design and 1,800 pieces of folders,” she said.

The stamps series will be launched by the Tourism, Art and Culture Minister, Datuk Mohamad Din Ketapi at Melaka Memorial park on July 23 at 8pm.

Pos Malaysia advised stamp collectors and public to register for the Standing Order Deposit Account (SODA) for a hassle-free experience purchasing latest series and exclusive benefits from SODA.

Meanwhile, its other series issued in celebration of Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s 93rd birthday are available at Pos Malaysia branches while stocks last.

The series was sold over 20,000 sets due to the high demand.
