PUTRAJAYA : Tabung Harapan Malaysia has successfully collected more than RM162 million as of 3pm today.
On its Facebook page earlier, the Finance Ministry shared that the collection has reached a whopping RM162.33 million.
The fund was established by Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad on May 30, to enable Malaysians to donate towards reducing the RM1.087 trillion national debt.
Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng had previously said donations to Tabung Harapan Malaysia would only be used to settle government debts.
It was also reported that the establishment of the fund was to allow the ministry to manage the contributions in a more systematic and transparent manner.
Contributions to the fund can be made by depositing into Maybank account number 5660 1062 6452.
