Sg Kandis Pas members urged to send message to 'big headed' PH leaders

SHAH ALAM: The opposition must have strong representation in the Selangor state assembly to ensure that there is check and balance in the administration.

Selangor Pas commissioner Sallehin Mukhyi said Pas is an opposition party at both the state and parliamentary levels.

"The opposition must have a strong voice, especially when you take into consideration what is happening in the country.

"What is happening now is the violation of the legal system, (which includes) the relinquishing of graft cases at the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission level for cronies and friends (of the federal government).

"So what is the difference with the previous federal government?" Sallehin asked in his speech at the Bangkit Pas Selangor programme in Kota Raja, Bukit Naga last night.

Sallehin also said Pas had taken into consideration its chances of winning in the by-election, and decided not to contest and give way to BN.

"In the 14th general election (GE14), we came in third for the contest in Sungai Kandis. So we measured our capabilities here, and decided not to contest.

"(But) it would be the same, even with us not in the running. Other parties will still hurl insults at us. We will be attacked and slandered,” he added.

Selangor Pas election director Roslan Shahir Mohd Shahir said there are a number of discrepancies concerning Malays and Islamic interests under the Pakatan Harapan (PH) government.

"Many had joined the Kebangkitan Ummah gathering in Kampung Baru (to protest against PH's alleged sidelining of Malays and Islam).

"The federal government is dominated by non-Muslims, although the prime minister and the deputy prime minister are Muslims.

"(Since) we went against them in the GE14, we should go against them in this by-election.

"In Selangor, PH has a two-thirds majority in the state assembly. Too many of them are there. They have gotten big-headed," he added.
