Mahathir 'drives' Shinkansen bullet train in Japan

KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, now on a working visit to Japan, took the opportunity to experience a ride on the Shinkansen bullet train simulator at The Kyushu Railway Company which is also known as JR Kyushu.

“At the JR Kyushu training facility yesterday, I tried out the Shinkansen (bullet train) driver’s simulator.

“It was very precise and able to simulate changes in weather (rain, snow) and day and night,” said Dr Mahathir in a Twitter post today.

A video clip accompanying the tweet showed Dr Mahathir in the driver’s seat while being briefed by one of the employees.

Dr Mahathir is in Japan on a four-day working visit to Fukuoka and Oita beginning Monday.

He also delivered a keynote address at the Japan Future Leaders School in Fukuoka on Tuesday. --Bernama
