IGP: We don't know where Jho Low is

KUALA LUMPUR: The police are exhausting all avenues to track down the location of fugitive businessman Low Taek Jho, better known as Jho Low.

Inspector-General of Police, Tan Sri Mohamad Fuzi Harun, said that at the moment, police do not know his exact location, although there have been claims that Low has fled to China after leaving Macau.

Police, he said, have contacted their Chinese counterparts, including making efforts to verify recent reports that Low had been arrested in China.

Reports of the arrest, however, were false, said Fuzi.

“For now, we have no information on Low’s location even though there were suggestions that he had go to China after fleeing Macau.

“We had contacted the Chinese authorities, including to check on any arrests, but there was no feedback,” he told a press conference after officiating a professional communications course attended by 30 senior police officers as well as district police chiefs at the Maktab Polis Kuala Lumpur here on Monday.

Asked on whether the police had contacted Low’s lawyer to track him down, Fuzi replied the police have yet to do so.

On July 11, Fuzi confirmed that Low, who has been linked to the 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) issue, had fled his last known location, Macau.

He said the information was relayed to the police via email from the Macau authorities.
