LGE tells Jho Low: Don't be a coward

BANGI: Fugitive businessman Low Taek Jho, better known as Jho Low, has been labeled a ‘coward’ for his refusal to step forward and cooperate with the Malaysian authorities over issues related to 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB).

Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng said that the controversial businessman should not be hiding and remain on the run if he is truly innocent.

“Comments by Low are cowardly. If he is innocent, come forward. There’s no need to run and hide.

“Last time, he (Low) was brave, because there was a big person behind (him). But when that big person is no longer around, he (Low) ran away.

“Be brave for the sake of the truth (berani kerana benar). He (Low) is afraid because of guilt,” he said.

Lim was speaking to reporters during the Balakong by-election nomination at the Hulu Langat District Office here on Saturday.

The DAP secretary-general was commenting on Low’s statement that his refusal to surrender stemmed from fears that he would not get a fair hearing.

On Friday, Low, who is wanted by the Malaysian authorities over the 1MDB probe, reiterated his refusal to submit to the authorities as he had already allegedly been subjected to a trial by media.

Low also claimed that he would not get a fair hearing because political machinations were involved in attempts to nab him.
