Najib: Video clip with 'Alasanmu' song lyrics hit home

KUALA LUMPUR: Music is the universal language that some of us would turn to when expressing feelings and former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak is no exception.

He described his emotional state, that was affected by the hardship he was going through, was being aptly explained in the lyrics of a song that was made popular in the 1990s by Malaysian band Exist.

Najib had through his Facebook page shared a video clip of him attending several government official programmes during his tenure, with song titled Alasanmu as its soundtrack.

“A friend sent the video link through Whatsapp to me.

“I don’t know who edited the video, but the lyrics of this old hit struck home. Thanks to the person who edited the video,” he wrote on FB.

At Press time, Najib’s FB status that was accompanied by the two minute-54 seconds video had garnered over 1,800 comments and 2,300 shares.

The post received reactions by netizens, with some offered encouraging words to Najib, hoping that he would remain strong.

Kasmaini Usman wrote: “DSN (initials for Datuk Seri Najib), it is not easy to please everyone; even with million good deeds, the one mistake will erase all the good things we’ve done; it is better to leave the rest to Allah.”

Asmidha Tajudin Dressmaker wrote: “Hopefully, there is a blessing (that comes with the hardship). Maybe Allah wants to show (a lesson) to those who had never been satisfied with the worldly pleasures bestowed upon them.”
