KUALA SELANGOR: Yayasan Avisena introduces the Klinik Bergerak Sutera (KBS) which offers basic medical treatment to the rural community for free.
The foundation’s chairman Datuk Ibrahim Md Yusof said the service is a part of their corporate social responsibility contribution to the needy.
Ibrahim said KBS’ basic medical treatment services are available in nine locations and the mobile clinic makes its weekly visitations to selected villages on a rotation basis.
“Among the services available are for fever, cough, flu as well as basic emergency treatments. KBS also offers consultation services by specialist doctors to rural folks,” he said at the mobile clinic's launching ceremony held at Kampung Jaya Setia in Bestari Jaya, today.
The ceremony was officiated by Health Minister Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad, who is also Kuala Selangor member of parliament.
KBS, which comes under the purview of Yayasan Avisena, was set up in March 2016 by the board of directors of the Avisena Specialist Hospital.
Among the villages KBS will visit on Sundays from 10am to 3pm include Kampung Sungai Gulang-Gulang in Tanjong Karang, Kampung Rinching Hulu in Beranang, Kampung Kuala Pangsun in Hulu Langat and Kampung Bukit Kuching in Jeram.
Meanwhile, Dr Dzulkefly hopes that more private hospitals will emulate the footsteps of Avisena Specialist Hospital with similar programmes to assist the needy.
“The effort to introduce KBS should be exemplified by other private hospitals if it has strong financial grounds and want to do something to benefit the people.
“The government is always encouraging the involvement of the private sectors, especially, to work closely with the ministry to hold programmes and provide their noble services to the community,” he said.
