Ban on RON95 sale to foreigners in Johor largely observed

JOHOR BARU: Only one case of RON95 fuel being sold to the owner of a foreign-registered vehicle was recorded in the state in 2017, the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs’ Johor office said.

Similarly, only one complaint of the fuel being sold to a foreigner in Johor in 2017 was received by the Ministry.

“We investigated that complaint and the necessary action was taken,” said its enforcement chief Aris Mamat when contacted by NSTP.

RON95 fuel was banned from sale to owners of foreign-registered vehicles beginning in Aug 2010.

Aris said the ministry has been distributing notices at all petrol stations in the state, reminding the public of the ban.

“Anybody who is found to contravene the ban will be investigated under Section 21 of the Control of Supplies Act 1961,” he added.
