Missing 10-year-old boy found safe in Kuala Kangsar

IPOH: A 10-year-old boy, who was reported missing from his home at Persiaran 5/2 in Bandar Baru Putra near here this morning, was found safe in Kuala Kangsar.

Ahmad Aqil Akbar Zaid's father, Zaid Mohamed Hashim, 38, said members of the public spotted his son at Taman Harmoni in Kuala Kangsar, about 50km from the family's home.

He said he received a call from a woman at 2pm who said she had spotted a boy resembling his son at the housing area.

“She sent a photo and when I saw it, I knew the boy was my son."

Zaid, who was met at the Ipoh police headquarters this afternoon said the woman then contacted the police to pick up the boy.

“Since he left home, I couldn’t do anything, I couldn’t think, I was too worried that he might have been taken away by strangers.

“He is our only child and we are really grateful to have him back,” he said.

Zaid lodged a missing person's report at 9.30am yesterday, about one and a half hour after neighbours found his son's bicycle about 200 metres from the house.
