Missing hiker didn't meet a 'princess' at Mount Singai: family

KUCHING: A man who went missing for six days while hiking at Mount Singai in Bau near here did not meet any ‘beautiful woman resembling a princess’.

The family said the reports about Stanley Kho, 22, who claimed he followed the beautiful woman who gave him flowers plucked from the forest, were baseless.

The reports, which also stated that the ‘woman’ took care of Kho when he sustained injuries while hiking at the mountain, had gone viral in the social media.

“He never gave such statement or said anything about meeting a woman. I’m not sure how they (news portal and newspapers) came out with the story. But, it’s untrue,” said a family member.

However, the family appreciated the efforts and help given by the search and rescue (SAR) team who worked tirelessly to locate Kho.

The family also thanked the volunteers, especially the villagers, for aiding the search.

The family was expected to organise an appreciation dinner at Kampung Singai on Wednesday for those involved in the operation.

Kho was reported missing after he went hiking alone last Monday.

A report was lodged at 4.30pm after three of his friends failed to reach him. They found his car parked at the foothills of Mount Singai.

The SAR team found Kho safe but in a weak and dehydrated condition yesterday. He was admitted to a private hospital for treatment.
