Negri planning to develop Jempol, Gemas

SEREMBAN: Economic activities in Negri Sembilan will be intensified with focus being given to towns in Jempol and Gemas.

Menteri Besar Aminuddin Harun said efforts would be conducted through the framework of Negri Sembilan Economic Development 2019-2045.

“Jempol district will be developed as a food valley, and will be the main food source of the state and the Klang Valley.

“The agricultural sector will be the main economic development of Jempol district and will be translated into several high-impact projects such as the proposal to make Bandar Seri Jempol an agropolitan centre.

“Besides focusing on the agricultural sector, we will also work on developing a corridor for commercial and residential development, making the centre part of the region and the economy viable and improving transportation systems and infrastructure,” he said in answer to a question by Datuk Abd Razak Ab Said (BN-Gemas) on the development of state’s border towns during the second session of the Negri Sembilan State Legislative Assembly.

Meanwhile, Gemas will be developed as a capitalist and agropolis centre.

“In the pursuit of this goal, some of the thrusts have already been outlined, namely in developing Gemas as an agropolis; strengthening Gemas as an efficient and sustainable transport hub; providing public utilities and rapid infrastructure; and, upgrading traffic systems,” said Aminuddin.

“In addition, we will be designing the socio-economic system to upgrade the lives of the Gemas population; branding for Gemas’s image; and, planning affordable property development.”
