No 999 years or permanent titles for new villages: Perak MB

IPOH: The Perak government cannot give land titles of 999 years or permanent titles to new villages in the state for now as the matter must first be decided by the Federal government and National Land Council (MTN).

Menteri Besar Ahmad Faizal Azumu said a Townhall session on the issue would be held as soon as possible for the authorities to gather input before the mater is brought to the attention of the federal level authorities.

“That is why we are only giving approvals of 99 years leasehold for 3,000 holders of Temporary Occupancy License (TOL).

“Those who have received these approvals can go to the banks for loans to built their homes,” he said.

Ahmad Faizal said the issue of the state government not fulfilling its manifesto promise did not arise.

He said the government needed to go through the promises carefully so as not to jeopardise the state’s interests.

He added that the state could not fulfill something if what had been pledged could lead to the majority suffering a negative impact.

“We also cannot make decisions for the sake of gaining popularity.

“Every decision must be carefully deliberated for the good of all people in the state,” he said.
