Woman injured in gas cylinder explosion

BIDOR: A woman was injured when a gas cylinder exploded while she was preparing breakfast at her quarters at the Sungkai Health Clinic early today.

The 43-year-old victim, believed to be a nurse, suffered injuries to her back and legs in the 5am incident.

A team from the Bidor fire station was rushed to the scene at 5.26am, soon after they received a distress call.

A Perak Fire and Rescue Department spokesman said the team found the woman lying on the floor.

He said the woman was believed to have been thrown about a metre by the explosion, which also damaged the windows, cooking utensils and part of the kitchen ceiling.

“The team immediately carried the woman out and handed her over to a medical team for treatment. We have also taken the gas cylinder for investigation purposes,” he said when contacted.

The spokesman said the premises suffered 30 per cent damage, adding that the operation ended at 6.09am.
