2019 Budget: IRB to probe 'extraordinary wealth'

KUALA LUMPUR: The Inland Revenue Board will investigate any extraordinary wealth displayed by individuals, said Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng.

He said these individuals included those who owned luxury items such as jewellery, watches, handbags, luxury cars or real estate.

"The government will also launch the Special Voluntary Disclosure Program to allow taxpayers to voluntarily declare any unreported income," he said when tabling the 2019 Budget in Parliament today.

He also said the government would set up a Debt Management Office which would be responsible for reviewing and managing government debts and liabilities.
