Former Sabah CM arrives in KK, ahead of High Court decision

KOTA KINABALU: Former Sabah Chief Minister Tan Sri Musa Aman arrived here at 12.55pm from Kuala Lumpur.

It is learnt that Musa, who on Monday was charged in a Sessions Court in Kuala Lumpur for corruption on a timber concession, paid a RM2 million bail.

About hundreds of his supporters gathered at the arrival hall of the Kota Kinabalu International Airport here since 11am.

Also welcoming Musa were state assemblymen Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun (Karanaan), Datuk Joniston Bangkuai (Kiulu), Datuk Jahid Jahim (Tamparuli), Datuk Nizam Titingan (Apas) among others and former Chief Minister Datuk Seri Yong Teck Lee.

The Kota Kinabalu High Court is expected to decide at 2.30pm who will be the rightful Chief Minister of Sabah.

The former Chief Minister had in June filed an originating summons against Yang di-Pertua Negeri Sabah Tun Juhar Mahiruddin and Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal relating to the appointment of Chief Minister.

The summons, among others, is to seek a declaration that Musa is the rightful Chief Minister according to the state Constitution and the appointment of Mohd Shafie was illegal.

On Oct 25, Yew fixed today to deliver the ruling after hearing oral submissions from both counsel.

During oral submissions, Musa’s counsel Tengku Fuad Ahmad said according to Article 10 (4) of the Sabah Constitution, the Yang diPertua Negeri has no right to ask Musa to resign.

He added that Juhar has also no right to allow Mohd Shafie to be sworn in as the new Chief Minister.

Meanwhile, Shafie’s counsel in his submission said Musa no longer had the majority after six BN assemblymen joined the Warisan-led coalition.
