MAHA 2018 extends operating hours for some attractions

SERDANG: The Malaysia Agriculture, Horticulture and Agrotourism Show 2018 (MAHA 2018) has extended the operating hours of several exhibition sites and attractions from 10am to 10pm starting today until Dec 2.

Agriculture and Agro-based Industry Ministry secretary-general Datuk Mohd Sallehhuddin Hassan said this followed the overwhelming response from visitors since it opened on Nov 22 at the Malaysia Agro Exposition Park Serdang (MAEPS) here.

The attractions will remain open until 10pm at Exhibition Hall A and C, Agrotrade Hall 1 and 2, Arrival Site 1 and 2, Breeding Site, Floriculture Site, Mak Cun Village, Lola Baba and Empayar Makanan.

“The State Pavilions, Fisheries Site, Padi Site, Vegetable Site, Herbal Site, Technology Site and Pineapple Site will operate from 10am to 7pm,” he told reporters at the MAHA 2018 media centre today.

He said the tram service operation would also be similarly extended until 10pm to facilitate visitors starting today.

Meanwhile, Salehhuddin is also warning traders operating without the permission of MAHA 2018 organisers to stop their activities.

He said the organisers had identified hundreds of illegal traders conducting their activities in the public parking area as well as areas for visitors' recreation.

“The matter cannot be allowed to continue disrupting the business of licenced traders,” he said.

MAHA 2018 themed “Our Food, Our Future’ is targeting to receive more than 3.5 million domestic and foreign visitors.

There are 13 pavilions and 1,500 sales tents featuring various attractions as well as 501 popular food items from all states such as fruits, vegetables, plants, fresh fish and seafood on sale. -- Bernama
