We can't wait to see the rakyat, says Johor Sultan [NSTTV]

JOHOR BAHRU: The Sultan of Johor, Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar and Raja Permaisuri Johor, Raja Zarith Sofiah are looking forward to meet the people in the state, as they embark on the 2018 Kembara Mahkota Johor (KMJ).

In a statement posted on his official Facebook page, Sultan Ibrahim said despite the hot weather, the journey will proceed as planned.

The Sultan, together with the Johor Royalty convoy started their journey at 8.15am today from Istana Pasir Pelangi, heading towards Kampung Temenin Baru in Kota Tinggi.

"Today is the first day of this year's KMJ, Raja Zarith Sofiah and I can't wait to meet the rakyat in all districts," he said.

Also part of KMJ are Tunku Puteri Johor, Tunku Tun Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah Sultan Ibrahim and her husband Dennis Muhammad Abdullah.

Meanwhile, leading the motorcycle convoy is Tunku Putera Johor, Tunku Abu Bakar Sultan Ibrahim who started their journey at 8am.

The 2018 KMJ is a journey of 777 kilometres and will end on Wednesday.

This year, KMJ enters its 21st edition and is slightly different than the previous ones as it had no gimmick ceremony to mark its flag off.

A British made three-wheel car Morgan, specially designed for Sultan Ibrahim is also being used for this year's event.

Sultan Ibrahim will also drive a train tomorrow.

The first day of the 2018 KMJ involves a journey of 270 kilometres to Kampung Temenin Baru and Kampung Felda Air Tawar 3 in Kota Tinggi, Pantai Sekakap in Kampung Sri Pantai, Mersing and Laman Kampung Melayu in Kluang.
