Former PAC chairman: I know nothing of amendments to 1MDB audit report

KUALA LUMPUR: Former Public Accounts Committee (PAC) chairman Datuk Seri Hasan Ariffin says he is unaware of any amendments made to the Final Audit Report on 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB).

Hasan, who is also Rompin member of parliament, said that when former Auditor-General Tan Sri Ambrin Buang presented the report to PAC on March 2016, the committee had accepted that the audit report was a complete one.

He also echoed Ambrin’s denial that the original report had been altered.

“I don’t know anything about it. What Tan Sri Ambrin had said (denying changing the report), that is it. What Tan Sri Ambrin brought to the PAC, that was the report.

“We didn’t know (whether there were amendments). We took what was tabled as the report,” he said at the lobby of Parliament.

Hasan was commenting on Auditor General Tan Sri Dr Madinah Mohamad’s statement that former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak had ordered that amendments be made to the final audit report on 1MDB.

Among the amendments which were claimed to have been ordered by Najib was for any mention of fugitive businessman Low Taek Jho, or Jho Low, attending the 1MDB board meeting to be deleted.

On Monday, Ambrin was called to have his statement taken by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission over the case.

Last month, PAC deputy chairman Wong Kah Woh had revealed that the final report had been ordered amended by “a certain individual”, but Ambrin had denied this.
