Group gathers outside Seafield temple to protest relocation [NSTTV]

SUBANG JAYA: Some 30 individuals from eight temple management committees around the Klang Valley gathered at the Seafield Sri Maha Mariamman temple in USJ 25, here, to protest the temple's relocation.

The group carried banners and placards and started gathering at about 12.15pm.

A representative from the Malaysian Tamilar Munetra Kalagem association, Eshrari Subramaniam said they are gathering on behalf of eight temple management committees in a bid to ensure the temple remains at its present site.

"We do not agree to the relocation of this temple as it has been here for 147 years, this site needs to be preserved.

"That is why we have come here today as a sign of protest and we ask the government to preserve this site," he said when met, here, today.

Among the placards carried bore messages such as "Do not erase 147 years of history" and "Respect the Rights of Hindus in Malaysia".

They left after half an hour without any incident.
