1MDB audit report tampering: Najib at MACC to give statement

PUTRAJAYA: Former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak has arrived at the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), believed to have his statement recorded on allegations that the 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) final audit report has been tampered with.

He came to the graft buster's headquarters here at about 10.30am.

Yesterday, former MACC chief Tan Sri Dzulkifli Ahmad also had his statement taken regarding the case.

Former auditor general Tan Sri Ambrin Buang was also quizzed for almost eight hours at the MACC headquarters yesterday pertaining the case.

Sources told NSTP that MACC was still in the process of recording statements from all the individuals involved in the 1MDB final audit report.

Sources also added that these individuals were called up since last week, among them were former chief secretary to the government Tan Sri Dr Ali Hamsa, 1MDB chief executive officer Arul Kanda Kandasamy, Dzulkifli, and officers from the Finance Ministry and National Audit Department.

On Nov 25, Auditor General Tan Sri Dr Madinah Mohamad revealed that Najib had allegedly instructed the 1MDB final audit report to be amended by taking out several paragraphs.

Among the changes allegedly made include the presence of wanted businessman Low Taek Jho or Jho Low in the 1MDB board director meeting.

Madinah claimed that those who were involved in the case include former prime minister’s private secretary Tan Sri Shukry Salleh, Ali, Ambrin and Arul Kanda.
