KUALA LUMPUR: The Education Ministry aims to lighten school bags by equipping secondary school students with digital textbooks by 2022.
“The ministry is proposing that pupils from Forms One to Three use e-books by next year.
“A more interactive form (of digital textbooks) will be prepared for students in Forms One to Five by 2022,” said Deputy Education Minister Teo Nie Ching.
She said this in reply to a question from Datuk Mas Ermieyati Samsudin (Independent - Masjid Tanah) in Parliament on how the ministry intends to deal with the problem of heavy school bags.
Teo added that the digital innovation will also reduce the use of paper and allow students to gain knowledge beyond the classroom.
