Umno Youth conveys condolences over Adib's death

KUALA LUMPUR: Umno Youth today conveyed its condolences to the family of fireman Muhammad Adib Mohd Kassim who died last night, three weeks after being attacked during a riot at the Sri Maha Mariamman Temple, USJ25, Subang Jaya.

Umno Youth chief Datuk Seri Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki said it mourned the death of an innocent civil staff and prayed for justice to prevail.

“Umno Youth seeks for investigation and prosecution to be conducted transparently, fairly and without favour. Justice must be upheld as it has involved the life of an innocent public servant who was merely carrying out his duties.

“As reported by home minister (Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin) at the parliament, there was no religious or racial element in the riot on Nov 26.

“Instead, the clash involved a group of gangsters paid by the developer (which owns the land where the temple stands) and worshippers.

“Not only justice must be done, it must also be seen to be done,” he said in a statement today.

He urged the public to remain calm and avoid from inciting any form of racial or religious sentiment in this tragedy that could further complicate the matter.

Muhammad Adib, 24, who suffered serious injuries after being attacked during a riot at the temple on Nov 27 was pronounced dead at IJN at 9.41pm.
