LANGKAWI: Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad this morning visited SK Kedawang here on the first day of school.
Dr Mahathir, who was accompanied by his wife Tun Dr Hasmah Mohd Ali, was welcomed by the school's headmaster Amirudin Mat.
The prime minister and his wife spent 30 minutes mingling with Year One pupils at the school.
A total of 110 Year One pupils enrolled in the school this year.
Year One student Nur Farisha Humaira Ahmad Fadzil said she was excited about meeting and chatting with the prime minister.
"It was a fun experience because Tun (Dr Mahathir) entered the class and shook hands with me and the rest of the class.
"Tun (Dr Mahathir) asked whether I made new friends and what I want to be when I grow up. But I was too shy to reply," she said.
