Seven UTCs get new operating hours

KUALA LUMPUR: The Finance Ministry (MoF) today announced new operational hours for seven Urban Transformation Centres (UTCs), as part of the government's effort to reduce expenditure.

MoF said the revision, set to take effect on Jan 22, was made following feedback from the public.

The seven affected centres; UTC Shah Alam, UTC Keramat, UTC Seremban, UTC Alor Setar, UTC Johor Baru, UTC Kota Baru and UTC Kuala Terengganu, will be operating from 1pm to 10pm on weekdays, and 8am to 5pm on weekends.

Operational hours for other UTCs in the country have also been revised, from 8am to 5pm (Monday to Sunday).

“The revision was made as a cost-saving measure for the government and the UTC operation hours will be studied from time-to-time based on the people’s need.

“At the same time, MoF wants to ensure government expenditure is efficiently managed without wastage,” it said in a statement today.

MoF added that the UTCs will still be operating seven days a week except for public holidays.

Last month, the government said all UTC nationwide would operate from 8am to 7pm, compared to 8am to 10pm during the previous administration.
