KUALA LUMPUR: Many netizens have turned to social media platforms to congratulate the Regent of Pahang, Tengku Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah, on his appointment as the state’s new ruler.
Facebook user, Shairul Rizdiyandi Omar posted: “Tengku Abdullah is a nice person. He always goes to the ground to visit the areas and is very concerned about the people.”
Mohd Nasrul Sarifhudin said: “Alhamdulliah, Sultan Pahang is the best, together with a good image. Ampun Tuanku.”
A Facebook user by the name of Andy Chuah said “We as Malaysians should always respect the Constitution, be loyal to the king and love the nation. Long live the king.”
Another user, Yzatt Benh Asann wrote: “He (Tengku Abdullah) will make a good Sultan. Well trained and prepared by his father. Congratulations to the people of Pahang. Hoping that he will become the next Yang di-Pertuan Agong and we non-Pahangites can share in the happiness.”
Derrick Wong posted: “Daulat Tuanku. May Tuanku be blessed with good health and happiness.”
The Pahang Royal Council today announced the appointment of Tengku Abdullah as the new state’s ruler.
The announcement was made by Tengku Muda Pahang Tengku Abdul Rahman at Istana Abu Bakar in Pekan.
Yesterday, a meeting was held by the Pahang Royal Council and attended by Tengku Abdullah, Tengku Abdul Rahman, Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail, Pekan member of parliament Datuk Seri Najib Razak, who holds the title of Orang Kaya Indera Shahbandar and is one of the Orang Besar Berempat, as well as members of the Pahang royal household.
The proclamation of Tengku Abdullah’s as the sixth Sultan of Pahang paves the way for his election as the 16th Yang di-Pertuan Agong, based on the rotation system.
Facebook user, Isz Imz Izz said: “Congratulations, the Regent of Pahang will be installed as the new Sultan of Pahang and subsequently as the Yang di-Pertuan Agong. Long live the king.”
Facebook user Na Bill said: “So, now we already know who the next Yang di-Pertuan Agong is. Settled.”
On Twitter, a user called @izzkamilhalda said: “Tengku Abdullah is now the Sultan of Pahang. Paving the way for him to be elected as (the new) Yang di-Pertuan Agong, if the Council of Rulers chooses him. I’m starting to imagine Che Minah Sayang (Tengku Puan Pahang Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah) as our Raja Permaisuri Agong.”
