Mukhriz: Kedah to be developed state by 2024

ALOR STAR: The state government wants Kedah to be recognised as a developed state by the year 2024, said Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir.

Mukhriz said the 2024 deadline is a reflection of the state government's commitment to developing the state.

The deadline, he added, will enable the state government to initiate or expedite all planned development projects within the next five years.

"When we set ourselves a target of five years, we will have a sense of urgency.

"With this new vision, state government officials will expedite and complete their tasks earlier and faster," he told reporters after attending the state government's monthly assembly at Wisma Darul Aman here today.

Earlier in his address to state government officials, Mukhriz said Kedah will be one step closer to achieving its goal once the Kulim International Airport (KXP) is completed.

"Currently, Kedah is the second worst state in various aspects. If development projects like the KXP can be implemented, our state will be able to stand tall alongside other developed states."

Mukhriz said Kedah will be declared a developed state if all officials work together and help accomplish the government's mission.

"We cannot afford to dilly-dally in our duties because our work will help ensure Kedah becomes developed," he added.
