SHAH ALAM: Two young women were killed when the motorcycle they were riding crashed head-on with a luxury sports utility vehicle (SUV) at Persiaran Hulu Langat here, today.
The dead were identified as Honda Dash rider Siti Mukarromah Mohd Jaizun, 20 and her pillion passenger, Nazirah Mohd Halid, 22.
Both women suffered severe injuries in the 10.40am accident and died at the scene.
The 32-year-old male driver of the BMW X3 was unharmed.
It is learnt that the BMW X3, which was en route from Sepang, was at a straight stretch of the road when the Honda Dash suddenly swerved from the opposite road, skidded over the median, and drifted into the path of the SUV.
“The BMW driver was unable to avoid the motorcycle in time,” Selangor Traffic Enforcement and Investigation Department head Superintendent Azman Shari’at told NSTP.
He said the SUV suffered severe damage to its front, while the motorcycle was crushed and found underneath the vehicle.
Azman added that the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
