A father's homecoming [NSTTV]

KUALA LUMPUR: Flight MH1 that took off from London to Kuala Lumpur early Tuesday morning was no ordinary flight. On board were stroke patient Sahrom Ahmad, his family and NST’s London correspondent Zaharah Othman.

Earlier, the medical team from the Charing Cross Hospital in London, where Sahrom had been receiving treatment, packed his medications and gently wheeled him into an ambulance before making its way to the airport.

Sahrom’s daughter, Nur ‘Amalina, never left his side throughout the 12 hours’ journey.

It rained heavily when MH1 finally arrived at KLIA, but it failed to dampen the spirit of everyone present.

An ambulance, which had been on standby, made its way to Subang Jaya Medical Centre, where the Tenaga Nasional Berhad retiree would receive further treatment at the intensive care unit.

“Welcome home, Sahrom.”
