Education needs of Orang Asli in Cameron Highlands will be looked into

LIPIS: The Education ministry will work closely with the Pahang Education department to look into the needs and requirements at Orang Asli schools in Cameron Highlands.

Its Minister Dr Maszlee Malik said the ministry will get in touch with the state education department on the conditions at these schools before deciding on a suitable solution.

"My ministry will be in touch with the state education department and we will look into suitable measures to help the Orang Asli community," he said during his walkabout at the morning market in Kuala Medang, near here, today.

Maszlee was earlier asked to comment on the huge number of Orang Asli dropouts and how the ministry plans to help improve the Orang Asli primary schools in the constituency.

On plans to visit Orang Asli schools here to check on their conditions, Maszlee said he is hoping to meet people from all walks of life during his campaign here and cover as much area as possible.

The Cameron Highlands by-election on Jan 26 will see a four-cornered fight involving the Pakatan Harapan (PH) candidate M. Manogaran, while Barisan Nasional fielded a former senior police officer Ramli Mohd Nor and two Independent candidates; former Institut Aminuddin Baki lecturer Sallehudin Ab Talib, 61, and a 40-year-old farmer, Wong Seng Yee.
