Kudat floods: Number of evacuees drops to around 2,000

KOTA KINABALU: Floodwaters are receding in Kota Marudu, Kudat where some flood victims have been able to return to their homes.

As of 8am today, the number of evacuees at nine relief centres in the town stands at 1,998 (from 493 families) – down from 2,757 yesterday, Bernama reported.

However, the number of people taking shelter at three relief centres in the sub-district of Paitan rose from 25 to 104.

Meanwhile, 127 flood victims remain at relief centres in the district of Pitas, Kudat, the Sabah Fire and Rescue Department’s Operations Centre said in a statement today.
