Father relieved body of son found [NSTTV]

"ALHAMDULILLAH!" That was the first word that came out of Mohd Mustafa, father of drowning victim Abdul Bari Asyraf, when he greeted members of the media at the Forensic Unit, Sultanah Nur Zahirah Hospital (HSNZ), Kuala Terengganu earlier today.

Looking sad but composed, he arrived at the hospital at 8.45am. Abdul Bari's body was found floating in Kuala Tanjung, near Pulau Warisan, Kuala Terengganu, at 7.23am by fire and rescue personnel and members of the public.

In the 9.40pm incident on Thursday, Abdul Bari was feared drowned when he tried to rescue the passengers of a four wheel drive vehicle that plunged into the Sungai Terengganu river.

In his bid to help, he managed to get hold of a three-year-old girl and handed her over to a man, before disappearing into the river.

It is learnt that the remains of Abdul Bari Asyraf will be buried at Kampung Merbau cemetery today after Zohor prayers.
