Subang airport worker in tarmac accident dies

KUALA LUMPUR: A Malaysia Airports worker whose vehicle collided with a private airplane on the tarmac of the Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport in Subang on Monday has died from his injuries.

Mohd Ruzaimi Iskandar Ahmad Razali, 39, died at 6.45pm today after two days of intensive medical care, Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad (MAHB) said in a statement.

He leaves behind his wife, Nor Azawiah Md Usuf and four children, aged between 1 and 13.

“He stood out among his peers… as a talented individual with exemplary work ethics. His passing is a tragic loss for Malaysia Airports.

“We’re extending our full support to the family members of the deceased, and facilitating the funeral arrangements,” said MAHB group chief executive officer Raja Azmi Raja Nazuddin.

Mohd Ruzaimi was driving his engineering vehicle at 3.20am when the collision occurred.

The accident forced the temporary closure of the airport as debris was cleared from the runway. Several flights were delayed.

None of the passengers and crew members of the aircraft was injured in the mishap.

It is learnt that the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia is investigating the collision.
